Whether you having friends over for the holidays, the big game, or just because, nothing pulls an event together like an easy make-ahead punch. With red wine, amber rum, and plenty of soul-warming winter spice, this particular recipe is perfect for cold-weather entertaining.
Rum Punch for a Crowd
Recipe may be doubled or tripled
1 3/4 cups red wine
1/2 cup amber rum
2 tablespoons Rum Barrel-Aged Maple Syrup (or regular maple syrup)
12 dashes cinnamon bitters (or 3 cinnamon sticks)
6 dashes clove bitters (or 4 whole dried cloves)
6 dried anise stars
5 dried allspice berries
2 cups cider
1/4 cup lime juice
(scroll for directions)
Directions
Combine red wine, rum, maple syrup, bitters (or substitutes), and spices in a large pitcher or beverage dispenser.
Let sit for a few hours to allow flavors to marry. More time will result in a more intense spice profile.
Add cider and lime juice to pitcher and give it a good stir.
Serve in punch glasses, Mason jars, or mugs, with ice, if desired.
