The Mojito is a timeless cocktail that’s perfect for warm weather (or cold weather, when you want to pretend you're someplace sunny and sultry). It traces its origins to Cuba, where farm workers would add readily available limes, sugar, and mint to cheap (i.e., unpalatable) rum to help it go down more easily. The combination was eventually co-opted by Havana's professional bartenders, who introduced Mojitos to the American tourists who flocked to the island nation for a good cocktail during Prohibition.
