The Old Fashioned Cocktail is one of the best ways to enjoy your favorite bourbon or rye whiskey.
Heralded as the archetype cocktail, the Old Fashioned Cocktail is a simple mix of sugar, water, bitters, and liquor. It's roots dating back to 1806, it may be one of the oldest cocktails known to modern man.
The documentation of the word 'cocktail' was first read in a Hudson, New York paper, The Balance and Columbian Repository. The publication wrote that a 'cocktail' was a strong concoction of spirits, bitters, water and sugar. A.k.a the bittered sling.
Fast forward to 1881 and the first use of the name 'Old Fashioned' was said to have been at a gentlemen's club in Louiseville, Kentucky, the Pendennis Club, specifically siting bourbon in the drink.
Drink this impressive and timeless cocktail to dress up any night.
