ZBiotics has genetically engineered a probiotic hangover cure to help you recover from a night of partying.
As many of us have experienced, a hangover is often a disappointing downside of a fun night with friends. Sure, you can drink a bunch of water to cope with the dehydration or perhaps eat something greasy, like the pizza you bought at 3:30 am the night before. But a true solution to this problem seems far-fetched at this point.
However, ZBiotics may just have accomplished that. We're no scientists, but the long and short of it is, they’ve created a functional beverage that breaks down acetaldehyde in the body. Acetaldehyde is the toxin that causes hangovers. To create ZBiotics, company co-founder/CEO and Ph.D. microbiologist Zack Abbott started with a naturally occurring probiotic bacteria from a Japanese superfood called Natto, then genetically engineered its DNA to replicate the natural process that takes place in the liver when alcohol is consumed: the production of an enzyme that breaks down acetaldehyde.
“Our environment and lifestyles have changed dramatically over the last few thousand years, and as it relates to biotechnology, we no longer have to wait for the next few hundred-thousand years for our anatomy to catch up. That’s why we’ve created a purpose-built, enhanced probiotic beverage designed to augment the capabilities of your gut,” explained Dr. Abbott. “It goes beyond mixing together vitamins and root extracts and hoping for the best. We are a science-forward company that starts with the problem – in this case, the microbiome’s natural inability to break down acetaldehyde – and builds a specific solution. It is genetic engineering as it should be: working for you, with effectiveness you can feel for yourself.”
How To Cure A Hangover With ZBiotics
Just drink a bottle of ZBiotics before heading out for the evening, which gives the probiotics plenty of time to “wake up” in your gut so it can properly breakdown acetaldehyde.
While it does protect your body from the effects of a hangover, it does not speed up or change your body’s ability to process alcohol. You should still drink responsibly.
ZBiotics is fully FDA-compliant and is manufactured in an FDA-registered food-grade facility. It has gone through years of laboratory testing and review by America’s top food toxicologists.
Founded in 2016, ZBiotics is thoughtfully positioned at the forefront of the “GMO 2.0” movement, inventing game-changing consumer products using sophisticated bioengineering techniques in a responsible, transparent, and accessible manner. It’s a new type of genetic engineering company: one that puts people first and that shares clear, detailed information about their technology, their intentions, and their mission to educate and empower consumers to make their own informed decisions about GMOs.
ZBiotics is the result of years of rigorous research and testing, and provides a novel solution never before possible. But this first product is just the beginning. The team is already working on building other novel solutions using the same technology.
It is now available for purchase through the ZBiotics website.
How Not To Cure A Hangover
Just like any common ailment, there are a number of supposed home remedies, urban legends and straight up myths on how to cure a hangover or alleviate hangover symptoms.
Hair of the Dog: Drinking more the next morning will not help you avoid a hangover. It may temporarily minimize some symptoms, but the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism says it will just delay, prolong or, eventually, make your hangover worse.
A big, greasy breakfast: If you wake up from your night out, and stumble to the nearest diner for bacon, eggs and pancakes, you probably aren’t helping your hangover. While eating greasy food BEFORE you drink might help, eating it the next day is going to just worsen any kind of indigestion you may be experiencing.
Black coffee: Don’t reach for the coffee pot the morning after a long night of drinking. While the caffeine in coffee will constrict the blood vessels in your head, which will help your headache temporarily, you will just feel worse in the long run. Coffee is diuretic which can worsen the dehydration caused by excessive drinking.
There’s nothing better for a hangover than good ol’ H2O. Drinking lots of water will help you re-hydrate, which will help relieve some of the symptoms associated with hangovers.
