You read it right. Free beer, beginning September 29th and lasting through mid-October! The only catch? It's Budweiser.
According to Time.com, Bud is starting a new, national campaign... a campaign to give away 500,000 free beers around the country.
That's 500,000 free Budweisers.
Why, you ask? Bud is hurting, my friends. The craft beer revolution is taking away a lot of sales from America's macro beer giant. Of course, there are many people out there who don't choose to pony up the cash to buy better-tasting craft brews... these customers are spending money on beers even cheaper than Budweiser! I assume they're getting about the same flavor as Bud for less cash.
On September 29th, Bud will host a Budweiser National Happy Hour aimed at American hipsters, with hopes of getting them to not only try a Bud, but maybe even like it. They're even teaming up with Facebook to make sure that kids turning 22 and older, during the promotion, will get a free Bud on their birthdays.
It's worth a shot, right? I know I won't be switching off of my favorite craft brews but I certainly wouldn't turn down a free Bud if it was handed to me. And who knows? Maybe the hipsters will shift their brew of choice from PBR to Bud... stranger things have occurred.
